Molly Ringwald is the latest celebrity to publicly share where her child was conceived. In a joint essay written for The Times by Ringwald and her daughter Mathilda Gianopoulos, the Brat Pack actress begins with, “I believe that Mathilda was conceived in the dressing room at Studio 54 right at the end of my run playing Sally Bowles in Cabaret in 2003.” Ringwald touched more on motherhood, creativity, and her past and current career before giving the pen to her daughter.
Molly Ringwald Comments on Nepo Babies, The Breakfast Club
Molly Ringwald, of course, rose to fame in the ‘80s. An aforementioned member of the Brat Pack, the actress is best known for films like Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, and The Breakfast Club. Ringwald touched on two of those films in the essay, noting that she doesn’t like watching herself, but she did watch The Breakfast Club with her daughter. According to Ringwald, some of the film is still great, however, “There are elements that haven’t aged well,” specifically Judd Nelson’s character’s poor treatment of her character.
The Sixteen Candles actress touched on the neop baby conversation, too, which is of particular importance to her as her daughter is also an actress. Molly Ringwald finds the public’s fascination with nepo babies “ridiculous,” and she indicated that her daughter has put in the effort to find work outside of her mother’s connections, particularly because she uses her father’s last name professionally despite her mother’s opinion. Gianopoulos’ first major acting credit will premiere later this year, The Idea of You starring Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine.
Molly Ringwald, meanwhile, recently wrapped up her work on the Netflix original Riverdale and had a part in Ryan Murphy’s FX series Feud: Capote vs. The Swans. Her daughter doesn’t currently have any upcoming projects reported, but Ringwald has a few either completed or in post-production.
