Recently, players reportedly encountered Network Error 6-4 that prevents them from joining or initiating hunts. Some Hunters assumed that this was Niantic’s attempt to soft ban GPS spoofers. But it seems there’s more than meets the eye to this problem. So what is actually causing the Network Error 6-4 in Monster Hunter Now and can we fix it?
What Causes Network Error 6-4 in Monster Hunter Now?
No one knows for sure what caused the Network Error 6-4 in Monster Hunter Now. In the Niantic Support forum, the problem was briefly tagged as a known issue but then the help page disappeared.
As of now, the player base is assuming that Network Error 6-4 happened as an attempt to soft ban GPS spoofers. While no concrete proof has been shared on social media, being locked from hunts and the game appearing blank might indicate some sort of ban. Similar to how it works in Niantic previous game that’s still popular to this day, Pokemon Go.
But, there is something interesting to note. In both Reddit and Niantic Support forum, players who claimed to never have tried GPS spoofing also reported encountering the same issue. Even the Network Error 6-4 has previously shown up during the Monster Hunter Now early access period. Although it doesn’t rule out the possibility of a GPS spoofing ban, it could mean there’s more to this than previously thought.
Aside from being unable to hunt monsters, the error also caused another problem. A player said that he got the error code when they were trying to collect the 50 Gems reward after purchasing a Starter Chest. This makes them unable to claim the free Gems.
Can You Fix The Monster Hunter Now Network Error 6-4?
For the Network Error 6-4 that appears when claiming a Starter Chest reward, the Monster Hunter Now support has provided a potential fix. Claiming the daily 50 Gems reward after 00:00 local time should help. There is an issue that the Gems are “mistakenly being shown early” but are actually not claimable until after 00:00 AM.
Meanwhile, for the “soft ban” issue, it seems we are out of luck at the moment. Judging from players’ reports, it seems that the network error could randomly appear every time Niantic applies changes to the server.
During the early access, the error might have appeared because the developer was still testing and tweaking the game’s server. Just before the Diablos Invasion community event, a small number of players on Reddit also mentioned encountering the issue. Meanwhile, the problem appeared once again on October 2, right when Niantic announced the October Events. Where Tobi-Kadachi will appear often and Pink Rathian will make its debut.
For those reasons, it’s safe to assume that Monster Hunter Now Network Error 6-4 is a server-side issue. We just have to wait until the Ingress developer fixes it when you see it appear on your screen. Removing the GPS spoofer wouldn’t hurt, though. The company could deploy a real cheating countermeasure soon.
