The Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin 1.3.0 Title Update didn’t just add two Deviants — Elderfrost Gammoth and Soulseer Mizutsune — but also Oroshi Kirin, an Ice variant of the Kirin Elder Dragon. Let’s take a look at how you can obtain yourself an Oroshi Kirin as a Monstie in Monster Hunter Stories 2.
Monster Hunter Stories 2 – Two Ways to Get Oroshi Kirin
1. From the ★8: Ice Phantom Subquest
You can get the Elder Dragon without doing the new “★8:(Explore) Ice Eggs Co-Op Quest.” All you need to do is grab the “★8: Ice Phantom” Subquest from the Quest Board instead, where you will be directed to a Quest Den in Loloska Forest. There you have to slay an Oroshi Kirin to finish the quest. And in the den, you can find its eggs as well.
2. Find the Eggs in Rare Dens
Several Reddit users have said that after completing the “★8: Ice Phantom” Subquest, you can find Oroshi Kirin in regular Rare Dens in Loloska Forest. Yep, even though Oroshi Kirin is a High-Rank monster, apparently the eggs can show up in Low-Rank dens too, but I assume it will have a lower percentage to show up in Low-Rank dens.
Oroshi Kirin itself is a Speed-type monster that is weak against Fire element attacks. And these are the best weapon types you can use to break each body part of the unicorn-like Elder Dragon:
- Head: Slash, Blunt
- Body: Slash, Blunt
- Legs: Pierce
For more details about its weakness, you can head over to our Monsters Weaknesses list guide. Once you beat it, you will get the materials to let you craft the Kirin U Armor+. Containing Quick, Ice Boost (XL), and Seal (XL). Meanwhile, as a Monstie, Oroshi Kirin will have unique skills called:
- Ice Aura – Kirin Gene (XL), Level 1: Adds Skillseal effect to user’s attack for 3 turns.
- Breakthrough Horn – Breaking Gene (L), Level 15: Speed type. Deals heavy non-elemental damage to one enemy. Medium chance to lower defense for 3 turns.
