Mortal Kombat 11’s announcement by WB games has fans screaming “Get over here!”. Fans clamoring for more were given a treat with character reveals of Scorpion, Dark Raiden, and Shao Khan. In a series of tweets, these fan favorites and Kombat icons are looking more badass and better than ever. First up, we have Scorpion:

Dressed as the leader of the Shirai Ryu should be, the classic yellow is interweaved with red, along with a dark hood and silver armor. Scorpion has been a staple of the MK series since its inception almost 27 years ago.  For those who have missed the other recent tweets, next up we have Dark Raiden:

Gone are the days of the white cloak. Looking more menacing and angry, Dark Raiden is armor-clad and still sporting his iconic headgear. The third tweet has given everyone a look at the Outworld leader himself, Shao Khan:

Sporting his trademark hammer and classic outfit, Shao Khan looks menacing. Quite difficult to beat since appearing in MK 2, don’t expect him to be any easier this go around.

Mortal Kombat has found ways of reinventing itself over the years. Going stagnant after MK 3, the series found new life with MK 9 and has run with the successful formula ever since. If the trailer is any indication, the newest iteration is going to be a bloody and fun extravaganza.

A new/rebooted feature film is indeed in the works but has been stuck in production limbo. WB Animation just announced that a possible animated Mortal Kombat movie is in the works with such talent as Joel McHale and Jennifer Carpenter signed on for undisclosed roles.

The Mortal Kombat series has had its fair share of ups and downs. With anticipation at its highest for the eleventh installment and two possible features in the works, fans of the fighting series have something to celebrate.
