With just days until the Supreme Court determines the fate of TikTok, Mr Beast wants to step up to save the app. The YouTube star recently revealed that he already has an offer to purchase the platform just one day after expressing interest.
In a TikTok video posted on Wednesday, Beast gave fans an update on his plans to buy the video-sharing platform. “I just got out of a meeting with a bunch of billionaires. TikTok, we mean business. We have an offer ready for you,” he said. The 26-year-old influencer, dressed sharply in a black suit, then pointed to a man in the background, whom he referred to as his lawyer.
“We want to buy the platform. America deserves TikTok. Give me a seat at the table, let me save this platform.”
Since posting, the video has gone viral, amassing over 3 million views and 500k likes. The upload comes just days after Mr. Beast initially expressed interest in owning TikTok. Taking to X, formerly called Twitter, on Monday, he announced, “Okay, fine, I’ll buy TikTok so it doesn’t get banned.” In a follow-up tweet, he added, “Unironically, I’ve had so many billionaires reach out to me since I tweeted this; let’s see if we can pull this off.”
The YouTube creator, whose real name is James Stephen Donaldson, didn’t unveil the identity of the billionaires investing in his plans.
What Are The Odds Of Mr Beast Buying TikTok?
Although the actual worth of TikTok is unknown, CNBC reports that potential buyers may have to spend between $40-50 billion. Despite being one of YouTube’s top’s creators with more than 500 million subscribes, Forbes reports that Mr Beast is worth $85 million. With his wealth alone, it seems impossible for the YouTuber to solely purchase the app from ByteDance. However, that hasn’t stopped the Internet personality from putting his hat in the ring.
Mr. Beast’s video has since sparked mixed reactions from fans online. “I don’t like Mr beast or Elon but I would definitely rather have Mr beast buy the app than Elon,” one user wrote.
“Save us all Mr beast,” one fan begged while another wrote, “Imagine if mr beast would own TikTok 😳 that would be crazy.” Others, however, think the 26-year-old is only using the TikTok ban for attention.
“Baiting for views. He doesn’t have the money to buy TikTok,” one fan slammed.
“My god even his lawyer looks unqualified. Lol why is this guy so afraid of interacting with people outside his ‘Yes Man’ group?” another comment read.
“My guess is that this is too get attention and then he will announce his own app called beast tok or something,” this fan speculated.
