Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel will be joining the upcoming action-adventure game, Marvel’s Avengers. Previous trailers implied her appearance. But now publisher Square Enix has confirmed her inclusion as a playable hero. The trailer shows off her polymorphic abilities as well as how she fits into the story. It seems she will sound the rallying call the Avengers need 5 years after the attack on A-Day. You can check out the trailer below.
Ms. Marvel is an Inhuman, a race of people who gain powers from Terrigen mist. Inhumans have a gene that comes from their ancestors through Kree experimentation. Kamala gains polymorphic abilities after she comes into contact with Terrigen on A-Day. She can stretch, shrink, and grow any parts of her body. She can also heal and shapeshift her hands into different objects while fighting. However, the trailer doesn’t reveal how skilled in her abilities she’ll be once the game starts.
She also idolizes most superheroes. The trailer makes her fan prowess apparent when she meets Thor. But her superhero name, Ms. Marvel, is in honor of Carol Danvers. In the comics, Carol was called Ms. Marvel before it was switched to Captain Marvel.
Ms. Marvel’s popularity has been rising exponentially. She only debuted in 2014, but she’s one of Marvel’s most popular new heroes. In addition to this game, she appeared in this year’s Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 on Switch. She will also be showing up in live-action relatively soon. At San Diego Comic-Con, a show based on Ms. Marvel was announced to be in development for the Disney+ streaming service.
Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal are developing Marvel’s Avengers with Square Enix publishing. It will release on May 15th, 2020 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows PC, and Google Stadia. The team has promised that many more heroes will be joining the game. And it seems like they’re making good on that promise.
