A new MW3 trailer is released, and it showcases the remastered maps of the original MW2 2009 Multiplayer mode. In this video, we see new in-game footage of MW3 Multiplayer mode for the first time while also showcasing a new weapon that looks pretty much like UZI from older Call of Duty titles. But that’s not all, as the developers address some significant changes in the gameplay mechanics of the Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer mode.

The first thing that comes to the fans’ mind when watching these remastered maps is how they take us back to 2009 and the good old days of MW2. Maps like Scrapyard, Terminal, Rust, and Highrise have been remastered many times in different Call of Duty titles. However, a critical thing about the new Modern Warfare 3 is its gameplay mechanics.

Zach Hodson, the Design Director of Modern Warfare 3, highlights that these remastered maps are coming with new gunplay. This means that you will be playing the old MW2 maps, but you can now slide, tactical sprint, and vault faster over the obstacles. You may even be able to jump over some unreachable spots from before and change the balance of a map.

The dev team is striving to meet fans’ expectations by modernizing the gameplay mechanics of the game, which is quite promising. Here’s Zach Hodson’s statement on the matter,

“What was good about the movement of older games? What was good about the gunplay of older games? And the same with the newer games. So we tried to marry those things.”

We also get to see some gunplay and movements from this new MW3 trailer. Only in a few seconds we see how fast the player is vaulting over the obstacles, but there’s no showcase of slides and slide cancellings. For that, we may have to wait a little longer to experience the Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer mode’s beta ourselves on October 6, 2023. There are a total of 16 MW2 2009 remastered maps coming to MW3 Multiplayer mode at launch.
