Having to undergo a kidney transplant is a massive, life-changing process in anyone’s life. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul Pelosi, revealed that he underwent surgery this past Friday, and his donor was none other than their daughter, Jacqueline. Pelosi, 84, had spoken about her husband’s, also 84, condition last month, who was still suffering from various medical issues resulting from an attack by a home intruder in San Francisco back in 2022. It’s unclear if the surgery he underwent was also a result of that attack or for a different reason entirely. However, he has reported since the incident that he’s had an aversion to bright light and loud noises, among other various symptoms.
Fortunately, concerning his kidney, blood relatives are the most suitable for donation, primarily because of the shared DNA. So, Jacqueline decided to step up to the plate and ensure that he could go over this medical hump without fail. In a statement, Pelosi said the following,
“We are deeply appreciative to the surgeons, physicians and medical team at UCSF for their excellent treatment and kindness. Under their guidance and the care of Nancy and our family, Jacqueline and I are on the path to a full recovery.”
The attacker, David DePape was sentenced to 30 years in prison after being found guilty in court. At his trial, he revealed that the attack was supposedly influenced by MAGA-aligned and other right-wing propaganda. Unfortunately, it appeared that he believed that journalism outlets were smearing now President Donald Trump’s name. He also revealed that Pelosi was not even his target, which is frightening for those living in the same house.
Despite all of his medical ailments and being the unfortunate target of a violent home invasion, Paul Pelosi is set on the right path toward recovery. Hopefully, this is just one of many milestones he has to look forward to in the coming years.
