Naomi Campbell Had A Rocky Background
The supermodel rose to prominence in the ’90s. Before that, she struggled with several issues in her life and career.
Naomi was born to Jamaican-born dancer and single mom Valerie Morris. She never met her father, as he abandoned her mom when she was pregnant. The model was convicted of assault four times and battled substance abuse and addiction.
She eventually landed in rehab in 1999 after five years of cocaine addiction. Naomi has always been vocal and candid about her struggles with substance abuse in the past.
“I was never ashamed of substance abuse. I never took a break,” she said. “I finally said ‘I want to go away and I chose to make the phone call to go to rehab.'”
The British-born actress succeeded and went back to her modeling career. Naomi became famous in the fashion industry when she appeared on the cover of Vogue at the age of 17.
She has since appeared on over 500 magazine covers and campaigns for luxury brands like Burberry, Chanel, Prada, and Louis Vuitton.
