It is the end of an era as Naughty Dog posted on social media this morning that they will be shutting down servers for their classic PS3 titles.
This closure is going take place on Sept 3, 2019, and hammers another nail in the coffin for the PlayStation 3’s ecosystem. The old dogs being set to get put down are The Last of Us, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Uncharted 3 Drake’s Deception.
This bitter closure pill might be easier to swallow along with the sweet announcement of DLC for the aforementioned games. Some other developers of games on the PS3 store could take note, mainly the ones of a big named shooter as still being listed as $80 in 2019
After nearly 10 years, we will be bidding farewell to Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3, and The Last of Us multiplayer on PS3 and taking servers offline on Sept 3, 2019 [5PM PT]. In preparation, we’re making all multiplayer DLC on PS3 free starting today. Details: https://t.co/BU4OfzYOxS pic.twitter.com/H7N0hV7xOW

Naughty Dog has a long history with PlayStation being the developers of the original Crash games, before moving onto the Jak & Daxter series on ps2. All their franchises have been critically and commercially successful, keeping millions of gamers from the outside world for a cooler one on their tv.
Crash Tag Team Racing Nitro-Fueled releases later this month, marking the last of Naughty Dog’s PS catalog to be remastered for PS4. Players can get their online/offline multiplayer fix from these classic titles, minus The Nathan Drake Collection, in one place.
Left Behind
Earlier this year Twisted Metal and the once mega-popular Warhawk were shutdowns as well. The Smash Bros. inspired PlayStation All-Stars was also a causality but nothing really dies if no one is there to see it.
No need to chuck your PS3’s out the nearest window like their Jazz from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air multiplayer lovers, there is still hope.
There are still some big titles remaining online are PS3, here are the survivors below (dated games signify closure). Take a chance and play some of your favorite titles before they get the boot too.
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3
- Dead or Alive 5
- Destiny
- Grand Theft Auto IV, Grand Theft Auto V
- Tekken 6, Tekken Tag Tournament 2
- Burnout Paradise – August 2019
- Happy Dungeon – June 2019
- StarBlood Arena – July 25, 2019
- PES 2018 – August 22, 2019
- NBA 2K18 – December 31, 2019
- WWE 2K19 – May 19, 2020

A lot of the previous games have a least a decade run or near that amount. If you are itching to play any of these from Naughty Dog, take up the chance before the server reaper catches up with them too.
