With the first week of the NBA 2K League’s third season out of the way, week two kicks off tonight with Raptors Uprising GC taking on Grizz Gaming. The best matchup of the week, a rematch of last year’s NBA 2K League finals with contenders T-Wolves Gaming and 76ers GC, is being saved for last. NBA 2K League games can be watched live on Twitch, Youtube, ESPN2, ESPN.com, and the ESPN app. The regular-season schedule can be found here.
Tuesday’s best NBA 2K League week two matchup
The match to pay attention to Tuesday is Blazer5 Gaming taking on Pacers Gaming. Blazer5 didn’t have a match in the first week of play, so this will be their first game since getting upset by Warriors Gaming Squad in the first round of the 2019 NBA 2K League Playoffs. As the top-seeded team going into that tournament, Blazer5 surely look to enter the 2020 regular season with a win. Having picked up a couple of new players in the latest draft, including the former star player of T-Wolves Gaming, Brandon “Hood” Caicedo, Blazer5 are surely hoping to beat their record-setting 14-game regular-season winning streak from last season.
Pacers Gaming entered the 2019 NBA 2K League playoffs as the sixth seed, while also getting bounced in the first round. Having picked up three players in the draft, including the fourth overall pick in Eddy “BOHIO” Perez, Pacers Gaming are certainly hoping for another playoff berth after a 1-1 start in week one.
Wednesday’s Games
Wednesday brings another big matchup, as 76ers GC continue to look for their first win after starting 0-2 in week one. The first matchup looks tough for them, as competitor Warriors Gaming Squad went 2-0 in the same time period. If Philadelphia can get the win, they’ll head into the final match of the week against T-Wolves Gaming with momentum behind them.
Thursday’s Matchup
Thursday’s matchup between expansion team Hornets Venom GT and Raptors Uprising GC means at least one of them will lose a match for the first time this season. Hornets Venom GT was one of only two teams that didn’t drop a single game in week one, going into their only week two match with a 2-0 record. Raptors Uprising did lose one game last week, but won both of their best-of-three matches, staying 2-0 going into week two. The Raptors do face off against Grizz Gaming in Memphis’ first match of the season Tuesday, however, so there’s a chance they won’t be undefeated going into Thursday’s series.
Friday’s best NBA 2K League week two matchups
Hours before 76ers GC take on T-wolves Gaming Friday night, another big matchup will take place between Kings Guard Gaming and Mavs Gaming. Having entered last season’s playoffs as the second seed, Mavs Gaming carried their momentum into season three by being the only team other than Hornets Venom GT to win each of their games in week one. Kings Guard Gaming went 1-1 in week one, but has added to last year’s playoff roster with three draft picks, including two first-rounders, one of which, Rafel “Crush” Davis, was the third overall pick. This looks to be a great lead-in the NBA 2K League’s Game of the Week.
Two juggernauts from last season, defending champions T-Wolves Gaming and runners up 76ers GC, collide in the final match of the week. Last year’s finals were exhilarating (after solving the technical issues, that is), and with each team having drafted two players in the draft, the rematch should be one to tune in to.
Though coronavirus has put a stop to some of the changes that were meant to occur in the NBA 2K League this season and caused the season to start late, it’s nice to have some form of live sports back in our lives.
