If you thought the Summer of video game sports was over, think again. NBA 2K25 unveiled brand-new gameplay details in this new installment. For those who want an immersive and dynamic experience, the fan-favorite MyGM mode is returning with new features to make your manager journey the most in-depth you’ve ever had. And for those who want a blast from the past, MyNBA will feature the new Steph Era. So, if you want to relive the days of the Golden State Warriors, you’ll be able to do that and more.
It always surprises me how sports games break the mold every year by adding new features and improving upon existing game modes. In the past, we used to focus on friendly matches against other players or just grabbing our favorite team to climb the ranks. This genre has evolved so much, and in good ways. As an RPG fan, I can tell you that the MyGM mode is one that I wouldn’t mind spending hours in. Some of the new features coming to it include:
- Backstory Choices: You can now pick your manager’s background, ranging from an ex-player to an ex-scout and more.
- In-depth Attribute System: Your attributes will dictate how your team performs in certain scenarios. If you focus on offensive coaching, your team will shine in that area.
- Perks: New perks are coming to add another layer of depth to your manager’s journey. Some will allow you to connect better with your players, while others will increase your team’s chemistry. Perks aren’t limited to those you obtain when leveling up. You can pick a few depending on the background, which will open up new opportunities as your career progresses.
- Focused and relevant conversations: This time, NBA 2K25 is focusing its conversation gameplay on meaningful ones instead of overwhelming players with many. This way, each interaction will feel unique.
The Curry Era Enters the Fray
Those who want to relive some of the NBA‘s biggest moments can do it through the Era mode coming to NBA 2K25. This time, the Curry Era is the new addition to the series. This historic time transpired from 2016 to 2017 and focused on key players such as LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. So, if you want something more history-like, this mode is for you. In addition, players can expect new additions to the NBA Cup and the League Expansion and Contractions mode.
Regardless of what you pick, NBA 2K25 is upping its gameplay in more ways than one. Also, keep in mind that the MyNBA and MyGM modes are exclusively for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. So, if you want to get your dose of basketball immersion this year, don’t forget to keep NBA 2K25 on your radar.
