The game industry continues to gas up with new titles. Earlier this year, South Korean developer and publisher NCSoft announced that it was developing several blockbuster games of various genres to diversify its projects. Since then, the studio has been sharing more details with the gaming community by offering a sneak peek into the early stages of its project development process. Now the time has come, and the company has revealed Project LLL, an open-world MMO third-person shooter for console and PC platforms. Here are the details.
NCSoft Reveals Project LLL’s First Gameplay Trailer
NCSoft finally gave the good news and revealed Project LLL’s first gameplay trailer, developer diary, and text interview. The open-world MMO game Project LLL is currently in development and set to be released worldwide in 2024. Besides, unlike the other NCSoft games, the upcoming title will feature characters, each with a unique name and background story. Additionally, the game is being built on the latest Unreal Engine.
“We wanted to create a new genre that is completely different from the recently popular looter shooter or battle royale,” said project lead Seeder Jaehyun Bae in the text interview. “We want to create a new market that is exclusive to NC with a new IP that incorporates the keywords’ shooter,’ ‘MMO,’ and ‘open world.’ We are developing a project that combines different play styles and elements from NC’s previous games, and we are very excited to share a sneak peek with our community.”
“LLL is a sci-fi game, but it can also be seen as a game that falls under a sub-genre of alternative history,” Bae said. “It takes place in a world that started with the idea that the history we know progressed differently due to a particular event in the past. In LLL, a devastated Seoul, the 10th century Byzantine Empire, and the 23rd century are all blended together in the same lore.”
