Miitomo, Nintendo’s first mobile app, is currently hosting a promotional event to coincide with Metroid Prime: Federation Force’s release on August 19. Until September 19, 2016, My Nintendo, the Miitomo shop, and Miitomo Drop minigames have been updated with new Metroid-themed items. My Nintendo features a tee shirt for Miis to wear for 200 Platinum points, plus a Federation Force power suit and helmet for 50 points each, available in four different colors. Lastly, users can pick up a free complimentary Metroid hat – that’s the creature, not the game – to send to their Miitomo app.

Within the app itself, The clothing shop has temporarily added a logo pin that comes in six different colors, plus users will receive a free 8-bit Samus shirt just for opening the app. Two Miitomo Drop stages have been added, one featuring the classic Power Suit, helmet, and a Ridley accessory that clings to your Mii’s back when equipped. The second stage presents the Zero Suit, the red top and shorts variant, Samus wig, and a baby Metroid accessory that also clings to the Mii’s back. Except this one won’t suck the life out of you. There’s even an awesome-looking shirt featuring a classic Metroid scene to pick up.

Psst. Want to know how to nail all those items? Watch this.

Miitomo has launched a handful of other promotions prior to this one, including Zelda, Mario, and Splatoon items. While the app may have been growing stale for a time, these special events have been arriving almost one after the other, with many of them celebrated with Twitter polls and votes for items. Now if only it would stop asking me “what’s been going on lately? What were you doing a few minutes ago? What did you do last weekend?” every single time I turn it on.

Have you picked up Federation Force? No, seriously, have you? What do you think about these new “Miitroid” items? Leave a comment and let us know, and keep checking out The Nerd Stash for more gaming news!
