This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

2024 is the second year for Need For Speed: Unbound, featuring new seasonal content better than how it was in 2023. Previously, the Vol. 6 update brought back the Audi cars to the Need For Speed after years beside a new Head To Head racing mode. However, the NFS – Need For Speed: Unbound Vol. 7 release date is near, and it’s about to touch the NFS nostalgia by adding race modes right from the Underground! And more cars, of course.

Need For Speed: Unbound Vol. 7 starts on May 21, 2024. This is according to the Unbound Vol. 6 Speed Pass expiration date, which means the release date has not yet been officially announced by the developers. It’s noteworthy that Need For Speed: Unbound seasonal updates launch on Tuesdays, and May 21 ties into that.

Underground Drag and Drift Races

Need For Speed: Unbound Vol. 7 update is themed after the Underground, specifically by adding Drag and Drift races. The last time we drag-raced and smoked the street with our car’s tires was in NFS: Payback nearly a decade ago.

The two new game modes will probably be added to the game in the playlists and free-roam events. However, it’s not yet detailed how the gameplay would work. Do we have to shift gears manually in drags? Are we going to drift and race the opponents to the finish line at the same time? If they’re bringing back everything in the Underground fashion, then yes.

Underground Story Relation and Challenges

Besides racing in a straight line at top speed and making some noise in drift events, there should be something story-related in Need For Speed: Unbound Vol. 7. Something similar to the addition of Eddie’s Challenges in NFS 2015.

The connection of all Need For Speed games’ stories is more of a cameo than a rooted narrative. So, a series of challenges, events, or even the return of Eddie himself from NFS: Underground games are very welcome to the NFS Unbound Vol. 7 update. However, no official info except for the title “Underground” supports this.

Just like the previous seasons, Need For Speed: Unbound Vol. 7 will feature a new Speed Pass, bringing us new cars, body kits, effects, and more. According to the latest post by the developers, it’s been officially confirmed that we’ll be receiving at least 1 new free and 1 paid car every season, starting with Unbound Vol. 7. The Premium subscribers will also receive 30 more tiers with the Vol. 7 Speed Pass, while the 45 tiers of the free version are still there to unlock and claim online and offline.

Last season, we had the glorious return of the Audi cars to the Need For Speed. With Unbound Vol. 7, however, we might be receiving Drag and Drift-related cars to match the theme. Toyota’s big return this time? That’d be a love letter to the OG Need For Speed fans for sure! But, there’s nothing officially confirmed as of now.

Need For Speed: Unbound is currently available to play on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
