In the late stages of pregnancy, even the simplest daily tasks can feel exhausting and uncomfortable as your body works overtime preparing for birth. Some expectant mothers even try techniques like curb walking, a method believed to help encourage labor by gently shifting the hips and promoting the baby’s descent, and many say it can be surprisingly effective. A pregnant woman in Chicago, Illinois, was curb waking near her home, and her neighbor called the cops on her. The ensuing interaction was caught on camera, and is circulating online right now.

People need to learn to mind their business.

In the video, the pregnant Illinois woman can be seen walking along the side of the road, placing one foot on the curb and the other on the street. As she curb walks, a brief snippet of context is displayed in a caption: “Me curb walking for the first time at 38 weeks pregnant and someone decided to call the cops on me“. Moments later, a police officer can be heard from offscreen, saying, “Hi, how’s it going?” and the woman replies, “Good, how are you?“

After exchanging pleasantries, the friendly officer queries, “You got your exercise going on?” and the pregnant lady responds, “Yeah, I was just curb walking. I’m pregnant.” A little baffled, the cop replies, “Curb walking? I have never heard of that one. Yeah, okay. I got you. Well, we just received a call. Someone was worried about you, basically.” Sightly embarrassed by this revelation, the pregnant woman states, “Oh, no, yeah. I’m okay. I was just doing the curb walking. Because, I guess, that’s supposed to help you and induce labor and stuff. Or make it a lot easier.”

Surprised, the cop says, “Oh, you’re trying to induce? Are you doing the whole spicy food and the yoga ball and all that?” and the pregnant woman admits, “Yeah, I am. And I was doing a live [recording] as well.” which appears to be the reason why she’s recording the incident on her phone. The police officer apologises for interrupting, and explains again that they got a call and he’s there to just make sure she’s okay. “No, I’m okay. I live like literally right there.” she says pointing offscreen. They exchange pleasantries once again, and with a smile on her face, the woman looks into the camera, and says, “What the [expletive].” with a giggle, as she continues curb walking.

As the clip continues to circulate online, social media users took to the comments to chime in with their thoughts on the slightly awkward encounter. On Reddit, one user penned, “Could you point me in the direction of this concerned neighbor?” while another added, “Yes, I am now concerned about that neighbor. They need a visit from the cops too!” A third person wrote, “So you just aren’t allowed to do anything outside in America anymore or the cops will be called. Land of the “Free” yeah?” Meanwhile, over on TikTok, one netizen declared, “that neighbor HATED the fact you were using your free will lmaoo” while another chipped in with, ““Worried about you” = complaining“.
