Netflix has finally announced the premiere date for Heart of Invictus, a five-part docuseries made in partnership with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The series, produced by Archwell Productions, will center around the Invictus Games started by Prince Harry back in 2014. The games were initially inspired by the US Department of Defense’s Warrior Games and will feature a collection of injured or ill service members as competitors. Netflix’s Heart of Invictus is currently set to premiere on August 30th.

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, & Netflix Join Forces for ‘Heart of Invictus’ Series

Directed by Orlando von Einsiedel, Heart of Invictus is a five-part docuseries that gives audience members a look at the Invictus Games, a sporting event created by the Duke of Sussex after he returned from deployment in Afghanistan in 2014. Inspired by the United States’ Warrior Games, the Invictus Games is meant to offer wounded or ill service members a path to recovery through athletic competition.

Per the Invictus Games Foundation, the games are meant to “[inspire] international communities through the power of the unconquerable human spirit.” In the first trailer for Heart of Invictus, Prince Harry expresses that “The [Invictus Games] don’t focus on what caused the injury, but really about the recovery and how to be part of a community again.”

Heart of Invictus was first announced in 2021, a year after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle first entered a commercial deal with Netflix. Under the deal, the royal couple has previously released Harry & Meghan (2022), a docuseries cataloging their relationship and explaining their decision to step back from their royal duties.

Unlike their previous docuseries, Prince Harry, aside from appearing on camera with the Invictus Games Foundation, will be acting as an executive producer for Heart of Invictus. Other production members include Joanna Natasegara, Ben Browning, Chanel Pysnik, Lord Allen of Kensington CBE, Sir Keith Mills GBE DL, Dominic Reid OBE, Orlando von Einsiedel and Abigail Anketell-Jones.

Heart of Invictus will be available on Netflix starting August 30th, 2023.
