A class-action lawsuit over a highly-anticipated boxing match has marred Netflix‘s status as a streaming giant. A displeased viewer sued the entertainment platform for ruining the Mike Tyson and Jake Paul‘s fight with numerous connection issues. The plaintiff, Ronald ‘Blue’ Denton, filed the lawsuit in Florida on Monday, November 18. His legal filing comes three days after claiming he and thousands of viewers struggled to watch Netflix’s boxing broadcast.

On Friday, when he and others tuned in for Tyson vs. Paul’s match, they faced “legendary problems.” The list included “no access, streaming glitches, and buffering issues.” Denton’s claims weren’t far-fetched as numerous people echoed similar sentiments on X, like Barstool Sports star Dave Portnoy. The media personality shared a video showing he had issues getting consistent quality while streaming on Netflix. “Things are going bad to worse,” he captioned the post. While most penned their grievances on social media, Denton wanted the streaming platform to pay.

The displeased viewer sued Netflix for breach of contract, among other crimes, and asked for unspecified damages. Meanwhile, the platform has not responded to the lawsuit but acknowledged its failure during Tyson vs Paul. TMZ shared that Netflix apologized for the inconvenience it caused in a statement on Saturday. “We don’t want to dismiss the poor experience of some members and know we have room for improvement. But still, consider this event a huge success,” their officials wrote.

While Denton sued Netflix for ruining his viewing experience during Tyson vs. Paul, some fans begged to differ. We shared that many were disappointed by the boxing legend’s match with the internet-personality-turned-professional-boxer. The duo dueled it out before tens of thousands of fans at the AT&T Stadium in Texas.

Although more boxing lovers caught the match on Netflix, those at home and in the audience shared similar experiences. Many argued the match lacked the “oomph” they expected, with NBA legend Magic Johnson penning the same view on X. “Just sad smh. I cut it off because I couldn’t watch anymore,” he began, adding:

“It’s sad to see Mike Tyson like this because I went to every Tyson fight. This fight tonight was not great for boxing.”

Paul emerged victorious by a unanimous decision with scores of 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73. While some saw his win as a stain on Tyson’s great legacy, the pair reflected on the match with gratitude. The former YouTuber dropped a humble statement, hailing his opponent as “an icon.” Paul stressed that it was an “honor” to fight Tyson and credited the boxing superstar for inspiring him. The beloved Iron Mike shared similar thoughts on X.

“This is one of those situations when you lost but still won. I’m grateful for last night. No regrets to get in the ring one last time,” Tyson wrote. He also addressed his health issues, including a near-death experience in June. Tyson stressed that he was proud to be able to get back into the ring following his health scare. He noted it was fantastic on his part to complete eight rounds “with a talented fighter” half his age.
