As fans predicted, Savannah Chrisley is begging President Trump to pardon her parents less than a week after his inauguration. The former Chrisley Knows Best star took to Instagram to ask for her parents, Julie and Todd Chrisley, to be pardoned. However, folks on the internet aren’t impressed with Savannah’s tactics.
Julie & Todd Chrisley’s Reduced Sentences Are Not Good Enough
Julie and Todd Chrisley went through a lengthy trial in 2022. They were found guilty of tax evasion and bank fraud, to the tune of $30 million+. After being able to spend the holidays with their family, the Chrisley Knows Best stars reported for their prison sentences on January 17, 2023. Todd received a 12-year sentence for his part in the crimes. His wife Julie received a seven-year sentence.
In September 2023, both former reality stars received a reduction in their sentences. Todd Chrisley got two years knocked off, putting his release in 2033. Julie also received a sentence reduction, placing her release on March 23, 2028. It seems as though their daughter Savannah Chrisley doesn’t think they should have to serve another day in prison though.
Just days after President Donald Trump took office, Savannah Chrisley posted a video on social media pleading her parents’ case. She also mentioned prison reform, mentioning the conditions in the prisons her parents are in.
It was clear from the beginning that this would be Savannah’s play. She cozied up to Trump throughout his campaign and even spoke at the Republican National Convention. Fans called it from a mile away: she was after a pardon. Seeing her beg for their freedom on social media is a little more than cringe though.
Fans React to Savannah Chrisley’s Pleas
Netizens took to Reddit to discuss her latest posts. The original source said that the clip made them “giggle.” Most people didn’t find it amusing though. “She is so pathetic,“ one person wrote. Another agreed, “Lmao she’s so desperate and pathetic .. plus trump [won’t] pardon again till the end of his 4 years.”
Many people pointed out the hypocrisy of her asking the president to spring her parents from prison. “These are the same people saying it’s ok for ICE to come get their neighbors bc they’re ‘criminals’ but wants her CRIMINAL parents to be pardoned for a crime they willingly committed?????????” one person commented, exasperated.
There were a few people who sympathized with Savannah Chrisley’s predicament. At just 27 years old, Savannah has been put in charge of raising Chloe and Grayson Chrisley. On top of that, she’s had to handle everything on the home front, including the sale of some of the Chrisley’s properties. She discussed putting off having children of her own as well as other life milestones because she’s so focused on her parents coming back home.
“It’s her mom and dad; without them she has responsibility for her younger siblings. I can see why she would be overwhelmed and would want her mom and dad back,” one fan wrote. Several others chimed in, agreeing that life probably hasn’t been all that easy for Savannah after her parents got locked up.
That said, Trump has not even hinted at potentially setting the Chrisleys free. As several people online have pointed out, there would really be nothing in it for him to do so. Unfortunately for Savannah Chrisley, her parents will likely serve their entire sentence.
