The Joker is stepping up to restore Gotham City to what it once was in DC’s new comics this week. This week’s Detective Comics #1085, from Ram V and Stefano Raffaele, finds Batman returning to Gotham City. However, the Dark Knight soon realizes Gotham is not what it used to be. This leads to the discovery that a mysterious organization is pulling the strings behind the scenes. It will take someone as chaotic as the Joker to stop the well-thought-out plans of this new group. Unfortunately, the Joker seems to have lost his usual giggling demeanor.
Batman And Villains And Pride Oh My
Beyond the Joker’s performance issues, DC’s new comics this week feature tales all over the DC Universe. Mark Russell and Mike Allred’s decades-spanning adventure continues in Batman: Dark Age #3. This week, Bruce Wayne discovers he may have more power without the mask as he walks back into society. But he will definitely need allies for the fight ahead. Elsewhere, Nightwing and Deadman are teaming up in Batman: The Brave and the Bold #13. The Brave and the Bold series enters its second year and brings five new adventures with it. Kicking it off is a team-up with Nightwing and Deadman as they face the ghosts of the circus. The series features a slew of writers and artists leaving their mark on Gotham and beyond.
DC’s new comics this week also features the debut of DC Pride 2024 #1. This annual anthology series puts the spotlight on DC Comics’s LGBTQIA+ characters and creators. This year’s anthology features new adventures for Dreamer, Poison Ivy, Jon Kent, Jackson Hyde’s Aquaman. It also features top-tier talent like Stephen Byrne, Al Ewing, Jamila Rowser, Claire Roe, and many more. This year’s Pride special also features a preview of the upcoming The Strange Case of Harleen and Harley. It also contains a must-read autobiographical story from Phil Jemenez with art from Giulio Macaione.
