A short 11-second viral clip on X has reignited the internet’s favorite pastime: judging strangers’ life choices. The video shows a new father being handed his newborn baby by a doctor, surrounded by a full gaming setup. In the clip, the doctor cheerfully says, “Merry Christmas, congratulations guys. She did great, she did fantastic,” as the mom giggles behind the camera. The dad, fresh off Prestiging to Level 53 in Call of Duty, accepts the baby with his mess of an Xbox rig beside him.
The video was posted by @ShermStu_2, who captioned it, “Gaming monitor AND headset in the delivery room is WILD behavior 😂😂😂”. Within hours, it racked up massive engagement, with 2.5 million views, 36,000 Likes, and 1,200 Reposts. But it also, unsurprisingly, sparked a surprisingly split reaction.
Some users quickly rushed to the dad’s defense. @AllenGreenMD1 argued that the outrage was overblown, “It’s not all that crazy. Labor can take a LONG time and there’s really nothing for Dad to do most of the time.”
Others echoed that sentiment. @OnlyLuso wrote, “That’s how he knows how to ease stress. Yall gotta stop bashing him.” @RaiderKovacs227 said, “Instead of tearing the man down why not be grateful that he’s there?” @OtsukimiOtsu added, “Nothing wrong with it honestly, no different than having a Switch. Only issue I see is the wife should also be playing.”
Meanwhile, @ChaosMoogle speculated something more practical, “What if he’s a streamer? Babies ain’t cheap, get that money.”
Nevertheless, not everyone was amused, and critics called the move immature or concerning. “Immature dork,” said @re4mat0r bluntly. While @SpacBobby added, “Bro might have an addiction.” The harshest — and most widely Liked, with 2,600 engagements — reaction came from @_willcompton, who summed it up, “This is most diabolical move I’ve seen so far.”
“Bro… just bring a Portal, Switch, or Steam Deck. No way is hauling all that stuff, setting it up, and dealing with people moving all around you easier than just bringing a portable console,” criticized @MishaTurtleX.
“Also, way fewer people would judge you for playing a bit on your Switch (giving birth can take a really long time and involve a lot of just waiting around, for anyone who hasn’t actually gone through the process before), but a full gaming rig? She’s going to be mortified.”
In the end, the internet couldn’t agree on whether this was a peak gamer moment or gaming brainrot. Either way, the kid’s origin story already goes hard: born during a Call of Duty Prestige grind.
