Part one of the second episode for the motion comic Mobile Suit Gundam SEED is now available to watch online. The second part of SEED ECLIPSE is scheduled to premiere on September 9.
Gundam SEED ECLIPSE was an initial test to figure out if the motion manga format would be popular with the fandom. With the reader numbers for the comic reaching millions with only a month of publication, Bandai decided to continue the story.
The Hidden Story of Gundam SEED ECLIPSE
The story follows an unmanned unit known as Orb Disaster Relief Team (ODR). From there, they have to live and discover the secrets of the Elipse Gundam. The catch with this new Gundam, unlike the other past suits, is that it has two forms. The ODR takes the form of a plane and a conventional armor form.
SEED Eclipse is the newest entry in the long-running franchise. The comic takes place in the new, unique area in the Gundam timeline, C.E.72. The time period, called the “two blank years”, is set between two large wars in history. C.E is described as “the break before the oncoming frenzy.” The goal of SEED ECLIPSE is to give readers a look at what happened during the previously unexplored parts in the Gundam timeline.
SEED ECLIPSE is also not the only thing that Gundam fans have to read. Other free (and online) titles include five of the franchise’s films on Youtube. These films are thanks to Bandai and animation studio Sunrise (Gintama, Code Geass). All of these projects were made to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, which first aired in 2002.
Currently, the comic is available on Youtube for free. It is also available to read in the monthly Gundam Ace manga magazine and bi-weekly on the GundamInfo Youtube.
