Donuts are a delicious treat to have during this country’s hard times, but some people just want to see the world and donuts burn — literally. A 61-year-old Trump fanatic in New Jersey terrorized a local donut shop by stealing a Pride flag from the entrance. He then proceeded to block traffic, threatened to burn down the building, and did Elon Musk’s signature Nazi salute near the bakery. One bizarre yet unsurprising characteristic the madman had was that “he was dressed like Trump, with a MAGA hat and a wig.”

Among the disturbing acts outside a #NewJersey donut shop – Nazi salutes and repeated shouting of propaganda. This began when the man attempted to steal a Pride flag.

One day later, customers left their own signs of support – and the shop sold out of donuts before noon. https://t.co/vgPpETnmcl pic.twitter.com/QednQNlgtb

Joe Rizzuto, the owner of Main Street Donuts in Matawan, New Jersey, has always had a Pride flag and an American flag hanging at his shop. Despite the shop being a local community favorite, 61-year-old Maciej Wojciak decided to publicly let out his bigotry and support for the nation’s leaders by terrorizing Rizzuto’s business. “In 54 years as a gay man, I have never had a hate crime occur until these,” the owner told Asbury Park Press. Fortunately, the locals were very supportive of Rizzuto after what happened. “I’m extremely grateful and overwhelmed by the outpouring,” he said.

As for the despicable loony, Wojciak was arrested and charged with “bias intimidation, terroristic threats, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct,” per News 12 New Jersey. Rizzuto made sure to take a stand despite possible future threats: “If you don’t like my flag, don’t come to my shop. That flag is going out again. I’m proud of who I am.” With all the recent hate trickling from D.C. across the country, it’s undoubtedly courageous and praiseworthy to take a stance on who you are and what you believe in.

Redditors reacting to the news poked fun at how the Trump-loyalist United States Attorney General would handle this donut shop incident. “Breaking news: Pam Bondi is seeking the death penalty for the shop owner,” quips the top comment with hundreds of upvotes. One user agreed, saying, “Yup, MAGA doesn’t approve of gay men owning donut shops (or really having any rights or liberties).” Several more joked at how Trump would probably act the same as Wojciak against Main Street Donuts. One made a donut pun related to MAGA, stating the acronym stands for “Make America Glazed Again.”

It’s great that this donut shop story had a happy ending, but there are still plenty of minorities and LGBTQIA+ community members suffering from the White House’s influence. Hopefully, this story will be an encouragement for people to take a stand for who they are and not let the bigots terrorize their presence.
