Food stamps and most things surrounding their usage are often a hot-button topic. Though many U.S. citizens rely on their SNAP benefits, just as many seem to be deadset against them. A woman in New Jersey happens to be one of them. She’s tired of people complaining about losing SNAP assistance. She’s also using TikTok to voice her strong opinions.
Latosha Mercado has put out a message to all those upset about not getting foodstamps during the month of November. Not only has she asked them why they didn’t apportion a chunk of their October SNAP assistance for November’s usage. She also wanted answers as to why they were relying solely on the government to get their children fed.
Did you stock up on pantry items and try to shop smartly, or did you just go buy a bunch of processed garbage?
The New Jersey resident also blamed the Democrats for the government shutdown and loss of said benefits. She didn’t stop there, though. She also suggested that food pantries could adequately meet their needs, including providing their meals for Thanksgiving.
“You better figure it out. I’m sick of hearing you complain,” Latoya told viewers, while eating a toasted peanut butter sandwich. She went on to discuss a woman who was getting a large sum of money via her family’s SNAP benefits. Latoya claimed that she could stretch that type of money much further than some could apparently manage. She also stated that she holds down two jobs already, and would get a third if she could not support her kids.
New Jersey Woman Gets Backlash From Snap Vids
Outraged viewers flooded Latoya’s comments section. Days after posting her first TikTok video, she disabled comments entirely. She then put up a second clip discussing the same touchy subject. The clip specifically addressed a woman who said she would start stealing if the government shut off her food stamps next month.
It seems that Latoya, though very outspoken, is one New Jersey resident who can dish it out better than take it. Then again, that’s common in our modern online world.
