A brand new trailer for the Monster Hunter Rise DLC expansion, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, has been revealed at The Game Awards pre-show. The trailer, the second one following the previous announcement back in September, went over more details regarding the content of the expansion, which include a brand new region to explore, new characters, and Amiibo. The official description also reads:

“Chilling new monsters and mysterious characters beckon you to a land of perilous adventure: Elgado!”

The new trailer for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak reconfirmed that the DLC will be releasing in summer 2022 as a “massive expansion” that will include new locales, monsters, hunts, and quest ranks. As seen in this trailer again, the new outpost players can visit in the expansion will be called Eldgado, and seems to be inhabited by a chilling species of new monster to battle known as the Lunagaron, along with some new characters as well.

Monster Hunter Rise free DLC coming soon

There is still no word on pricing information for the expansion as of now, but more details are expected to be shared in the future. The trailer also revealed that three Amiibos will be available along with the expansion. These include the Palamute “Canyne Malzeno X”, the Palico “Felyne Malzeno X”, and the Malzeno, the Dracula-like Elder Dragon that will serve as the flagship monster for players to face in the expansion. These Amiibos will all be released along with the release of the expansion, and each one will also unlock a special layered armor for the playable character when used in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.

There is still much more information to be shared regarding this expansion, including what other returning (and new) monsters will be available in Monster Hunter: Sunbreak DLC. Share your thoughts in the comments and stay tuned at The Nerd Stash for more The Game Awards 2021 updates!
