The Nintendo Switch, while revolutionary when it was released, has been in dire need of an upgrade in recent years. Fans have found that their favorite handheld gaming device is lacking in power when compared to the competition. According to a new leak, the release date of the Nintendo Switch 2 is sometime next year in 2025.
The leak comes from Nikkei, and according to the claims, the new handheld console could be released as early as March 2025. When a Nintendo spokesperson was asked by Nikkei, they had “no particular comment” on it. Although fans were hoping that the Nintendo Switch 2 would come out sometime in 2024, this leak dashes their hopes out of the year.
This leak was corroborated by Pedro Henrique last month when they claimed that Nintendo was planning on launching the Switch 2 in Q1 of 2025. Of course, Nintendo has not confirmed or denied any of the aforementioned leaks and rumors.
Nintendo Switch 2 Leak Mentions Release Date
When news dropped about the Nintendo Switch 2 being delayed a few days ago, it resulted in Nintendo’s share price dropping by as much as 8.8%. Although this decrease was there, the actual price still isn’t low by any means. It was just disappointing to investors and fans that Nintendo is putting the release of its next console off by another year.
People were extremely excited about a Nintendo Direct this month, which was supposed to reveal the Nintendo Switch 2, but in reality, it turned out to be a Partner Showcase. And if this leak is correct and Nintendo does indeed plan on releasing the Switch 2 in early 2025 then a reveal should be right around the corner, and that’s exactly what might be happening. According to Pedro Henrique, Nintendo plans on revealing the new system in June of 2024.
Since two reliable leakers are agreeing about this, it makes this a very convincing leak. But of course, until Nintendo’s official word on the matter, we recommend taking this news with a grain of salt.
