Overwatch 2 Season 9’s midseason patch has landed with a bit of frustration, with some characters performing notably better than others. This created a stale meta with some frustrating fights, so the devs are rolling back some of the midseason buffs to help slow down the state of the game, including Sombra, Mauga, and Symmetra. Find out what the new Overwatch 2 patch notes are here.
Overwatch 2 March 19 Patch Notes
During the midseason patch of Season 9, Mauga, Sombra, and Symmetra all received some sizable buffs. Mauga’s stomp damage was increased and his Cardiac Overdrive ability was massively buffed, while Sombra received higher damage on her Virus ability and reduced cost for her Ultimate. Meanwhile, Symmetra’s Primary Fire damage was buffed significantly, as was the health of her turrets and teleporter.
The balance changes on March 19 won’t rollback all of the buffs for these heroes, as they were in a pretty weak state before these buffs went through. Still, hopefully, these changes will allow these characters to remain a strong option, but not overwhelmingly run the meta as they have been these couple of weeks. Here are the full Overwatch 2 March 19 patch notes, although they are quite brisk:
Overwatch 2 Patch Notes
Mauga
- Base Health decreased from 400 to 375
- Cardiac Overdrive:
- No longer fills overhealth on activation.
- Duration increased from 4 to 5 seconds.
- Cooldown increased from 10 to 12 seconds.
Sombra
- The previous reduction to her Ultimate cost has been reverted.
Symmetra
- Photon Projector: Primary Fire damage per second decreased from 65 to 60, scaling with all levels. Maximum damage per second is 180.
- Sentry Turret: Health decreased from 50 to 40.
Overall, Mauga has been hit the hardest, receiving a separate health nerf and losing his Cardiac Overdrive changes. Sombra keeps her damage buff but loses her EMP charge rate buff. Finally, Symmetra has lost the buffs to her Primary Fire but still has a stronger turret with slightly higher health and more damage compared to her previous iteration.
