Square Enix has dropped a new gameplay trailer for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Dubbed the “101” trailer, it acts as a crash course in getting you up to date with what the protagonist Adam Jensen has been doing since the events that occurred during Human Revolution. Jensen is now working for Interpol’s counter-terrorism unit hoping to find the answers to “the incident” that transpired during and after the Human Revolution timeline. His search for answers has brought him to Prague, but that looks to be one of many locations. At a whopping six minutes, the trailer shows all of the different gameplay approaches a player can take in a single scenario.
The cyber augment’s Jensen received in the last game were “hiding cutting edge experimental augments,” according to a new face in the trailer. Meaning Jensen is going to have a few more tricks up his sleeve this time around. The preview shows an ability that covers Adam entirely in armor, making him the equivalent of an armored tank. His signature arm blades can now be launched to distract enemies, as well as explode. The trailer also shows off some weapons meant to pacify the enemies in the game. It looks like everything we’ve wanted from Human Revolution and then some.
Here’s the official press release from Square Enix;
“Discover everything you need to know about Deus Ex: Mankind Divided in the official 101 trailer! In Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, you become Adam Jensen, a counter-terrorism agent working for an Interpol unit known as Task Force 29. On the surface, Jensen’s goal is to hunt down terrorists in a world that’s spinning out of control, where mechanically augmented humans live a life of complete and total segregation from the rest of society. But what he’s really after are the Illuminati: the men and women who are always pulling the strings. His investigation will take you around the world, with the decisions you make and the actions you take playing a crucial role in determining the game’s outcome. Choose between combat, stealth, social, and hacking approaches to achieve your objectives. Be mindful, though, as there will be a meaningful consequence to every action and choice you make.”
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is coming August 23rd, 2016 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
