2K and Gearbox Software have released New Tales from the Borderlands today. This spiritual successor to the series from Telltale further expands on the Borderlands universe.
New Tales from the Borderlands
Just like the Telltale series, New Tales from the Borderlands is a choice-based narrative adventure game. The game takes place in Meridian city, and you will play as ” three lovable losers on the worst day of their lives”. Every choice that you make in the game will affect how the story unfolds.
The three main characters are Anu, an altruistic scientist, her brother Octavio, who is described as “streetwise”, and the fierce Fran. The story itself will unfold in five parts, where you will claw and con your way to survive.
The new game will feature both returning and new faces. Some characters described to be in the game are an assassin bot and a “less-murderous-than-usual-bandit” .
As stated before, your choices will affect the outcome of the story. All three characters have their own goals, and whether or not they succeed will depend on you.
Randy Pitchford, the founder of the Gearbox Entertainment Company, said the following about the release of New Tales from the Borderlands:
“With concept and writing collaboration between talent who worked on the original Tales from the Borderlands and an all-Gearbox production team driven by the incredible creative leadership of Gearbox Studio Quebec, we’re stoked for everyone to play New Tales from the Borderlands. The new storylines and characters will entertain newcomers to the Borderlands universe and those who have played and loved other Borderlands games.”
