2D action games have been in an exciting spot for the last few years. Receiving a healthy dose of games, it seemed like the beat-em-up genre was making a comeback. Yet despite Streets of Rage 4 and River City Girls returning the genre to its roots, many have waited for another return. Spanning classic arcade cabinets to SNES beat-em-up games, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have a history with 2D action. Aside from their last outing in 2016, the TMNT have yet to star in their title again. Yet revealed almost a year ago was the latest 2D brawler coming soon. TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge with its latest addition of a playable Master Splinter is promising to be a true classical representation of the turtle’s arcade roots. Revealed was yet another character added to the roster. Master Splinter will finally join the turtles on the beat ’em up action in a brand new TMNT trailer.
What Does Splinter TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge Trailer Showcase?
The trailer, albeit short, does showcase a decent amount. Splinter’s moves resemble his martial art prowess, and he utilizes clear fluid motions effectively. TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge meticulously animates its pixel art with so much detail. Which is clear in Splinters overall design. Harkening back to his purple Gi and brown rat colors, the pixel art does his character well. Now bringing the total amount of playable characters up to 6, it’s a wonder what tribute games will include next. Considering the cast of characters in the TMNT universe, it wouldn’t be surprising to see a few more fan favorites pop up. Casey Jones is one such ally to the turtles many fans have been wondering about their whereabouts. While the title doesn’t launch until sometime later this year, the release date still alludes to eager fans. While they take time to polish the release of TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, fans can rest assured knowing the franchise is in good hands.
