Growing up, the way your parents treat each other can leave a lasting impression. The way arguments are handled, how loyalty is shown, or whether respect is present at home often shapes how children view relationships later in life. For one woman in New York City, those lessons didn’t come from guidance but from watching her father’s choices. In a TikTok video captioned “When misogynistic fathers create feminist daughters,” she explained how years of infidelity and manipulation changed her perspective.
She told viewers that her father hated the fact that she calls herself a feminist, but she believes he is the very reason she became one. “My dad is so funny because he hates that I identify as a feminist and he hates that I say I hate men but he is the reason why,” she said.
According to the TikToker, her father cheated on her mother for over 20 years, all while dismissing her mother as “insane” for suspecting the affairs. She said he only ended one long relationship because the other woman developed brain cancer. Not long after, he started a new relationship and chose to live just down the street from his family’s old home. “You were with my mother for 35 years, called her crazy the whole time, and now you want us to come have dinner with your affair partner in the house we grew up in, while our mom was in the hospital,” she said, calling the situation unacceptable.
