In our modern times, many families are choosing to keep their families small or are holding off on having children altogether. It’s a huge choice that should always be left up to a family to decide. One New York family, which started by chance, is now growing and has turned into a current home of 13! With 11 children, the parents are now telling their story about how something unexpected turned into their dream.
Alicia and Josh Dougherty knew it was love at first sight after a one-night stand that, for so many, leads to nothing. They only knew each other for two days when they decided to move in with each other. The family now has a huge following on social media, especially on their Instagram @doughertydozen. Some followers are alarmed by their massive family. Most are completely charmed and enthralled by the closeness of this family and the heartfelt way they connect.
The couple currently has four biological children, as well as eight children that they are fostering or adopting. If you take a look at their social media, Alicia’s preparing huge spreads of food with the same chaotic energy as Superwoman. The family has also revealed shocking numbers on their grocery bills nearing $1000. Can you imagine?
For Doughertydozen, routine is everything. Alicia posts many videos surrounding their routines such as getting lunch ready for all the school-going children, making breakfast for many, and family activities. They definitely have their schedules packed but the internet is always there cheering them on.
One follower commented on a recent Doughertydozen video, “The food looks so good!! Such a sweet mom” as you can always see a genuine smile on Alicia’s face. Another chimed in with a, “How big is your fridge?!!!” in response to seeing all of the food that Alicia buys on an average shopping trip.
Alicia always posts sweet videos featuring her husband and the love they have for one another as well. However, they also joke around and share the reality of how difficult it can be to have an enormous family. They talk about “crashing out” after a week filled with sports, music lessons, and more. It’s hard to pace yourself!
But, in the end, the @Doughertydozen shows what it means to stick together and be there for one another in the most positive ways.
