DoorDash services are a necessity for so many people. Several months ago, a New York woman who is now known on the internet as “DoorDash Girl” was fired from her position as a driver. Why? She alleged a customer of sexual assault while delivering his order. Things felt a little weird and off when DoorDash fired her and, naturally, people bashed the company for their decision. But now, it turns out that she was arrested for what happened that day. As the story unravels, it only becomes more and more interesting, to say the least.
In the initial TikTok story posted by Olivia Henderson (@irlmonsterhighdoll), the OG DoorDash Girl was supposed to deliver food to a residence. At the time of her arrival, the customer was sleeping on his couch with his pants around his ankles. Olivia posted the video of him lying on his couch with his name and information for all to see. Since then, she has made several follow-up videos accusing DoorDash of firing her unfairly. She accused the company of punishing her for being sexually assaulted by a customer.
Since then, some confusing developments have taken place. For one, Olivia has since been arrested for two felony counts. According to the TikTok page @bnc_news, she’s facing charges of one count of dissemination of surveillance images for sale or publishing, as well as one count of unlawful surveillance for amusement or profit. Her first court hearing on the matter is supposed to be heard on December 4. It turns out it wasn’t fully legal for her to be standing outside the customer’s house and recording him inside his house, basically naked.
Nobody is really surprised that she’s been charged because of the severity of the situation. As BNC News said, you can’t expect “nothing to happen” after leaking someone’s photos, name, and address for all to see. On top of this, “unlawful surveillance” applies because he wasn’t aware that he was being recorded at the time. In fact, it’s very apparent that he was sleeping. Maybe not the best idea when you know your food order is coming but I’m sure he didn’t expect what followed.
As one commenter warned, “People are so quick to post on social media without thinking.” Another commenter pointed out that “this is a real thing that happens.” Apparently, people (especially men) have been known to purposely leave doors open while in revealing situations so that women can find them like this. As the commenter then says, “I promise you the first instinct isn’t to monetize it all over social media. She didn’t even call non-emergency.” It wasn’t handled in the best way. And if he did stage the whole thing and wanted to be found that way, that’s pretty disturbing. But revealing that information on social media was clearly not the best step for Olivia.
