Conservatives have officially deemed Charlie Kirk a martyr after his assassination at Utah Valley University. And it isn’t uncommon for some people to be celebrating his values. What would you do if you were in mourning at the funeral of a loved one, and you come face to face with a Charlie Kirk memorial? Seems out of place, doesn’t it? One woman in New York claims “this is FASCISM” and how wrong it all feels.
TikTok user Potatoprincess123 posted her video, revealing what’s happening in DMV funeral homes. Those are funeral homes located in Maryland, Virginia, and the D.C. metropolitan area. She explains literature on Charlie Kirk is being required in DMV funeral homes after his unexpected death. This means that, when you enter a funeral home in this area, you might find an “in memoriam pamphlet” about Charlie Kirk inside. She also stated they’re “hosting open hours” where the public can come and grieve his death.
Meg says she lives in the DMV area and her local funeral home is joining in on this. The funeral homes were really given no choice and had to comply. Meg argues it’s a fascist decision, and I agree. The mourning period for Charlie Kirk is supposed to take place between September 17 and September 21. Meg also said the funeral homes are advertising the “Fight for Charlie” website. It’s a fundraiser for Kirk’s family.
One commenter pointed out, “Mind you, Charlie Kirk was worth 12 million and his wife is worth a few million I believe…They’re not hurting for anything.” They went on to ask, “Why are they grafting people that are struggling to make it paycheck to paycheck?”
While loved ones are attending a funeral, they’ll be bombarded with Charlie Kirk fliers and memorabilia. Meg states, “Imagine having a funeral for your loved one and there is Charlie Kirk propaganda sitting in there. A lot of the funeral home staff that are at these funeral homes do not agree with this.” Even through the deaths of other prominent political figures, we’ve never seen something like this.
One baffled commenter stated, “We are in full blown fascism.” Another pointed out, “The way I would throw an absolute fit if I had a loved one pass and that was going on at the home during their funeral.” I couldn’t even imagine how that must feel, especially knowing what he stood on.
