A New York City influencer has gone viral after being surprised by a male presence in a female-only restroom recently. “What the heck Brooklyn” was included in the footage, posted to TikTok on Friday, and it’s since spread beyond the platform.
The video, which showed @maria_violet_b filming herself and a pal in front of a mirror, caused some level of shock when a man, outfitted in traditional Orthodox Jewish dress, exited a stall, seemingly totally unaware that he was using the wrong restroom. When fans commented on the Reddit repost, some discussed their own similar experiences, although one user gained likes for pointing out that the guy was “washing his hands” in a thorough manner. New York City is estimated to be home to approximately 1.3 million Jews.
Jewish Man Shocks New York Woman With Unexpected Bathroom Exit
The video showed two young ladies making the most of a bathroom mirror as they posed for some selfie action. Both were outfitted in black, as was the man filmed exiting one of the stalls.
Wearing a traditional Shtreimel hat made of fur, along with a black silk coat featuring a belt detail, the gentleman also sported a beard, all of which are typical of Orthodox Ashkenazi Jewish dress. Looking cool as a cucumber, he made his way to the nearest faucet, avoiding eye contact with anyone else, as he began washing his hands. The footage also swung to a third female at the bathroom’s entrance. Looking shocked and offended, she said: “Excuse me sir? You’re in the ladies.” The man was heard responding, but his words were unclear.
‘Ladies, How Would You React To This?’
“This sort of happened to me, in of all places, Fresno,” one user replied.
Another fan flipped the situation around, saying that women often use the men’s restrooms to avoid long wait lines. Agreeing, one user responded: “The amount of times I’ve just used the men’s restroom is insane. Especially at female-dominated events,” adding: “A bathroom is a bathroom. As long as they arent messing with anyone (and they never are) just leave it be.”
Elsewhere, a fan appeared impressed by how well the man had washed his hands as they said: “I’d probably be comforted that he washed his hands so thoroughly. You don’t see that all the time.” A staggering 8,000 users agreed. The video was reposted to the TikTok Cringe subreddit last Friday.
Actually answering the prompt in the subject line, one fan said: “I’d let him know he’s in the wrong restroom.”
