The smallest misunderstanding can lead to the biggest problem. A New York influencer and singer found out the hard way when she thought she would save some space in her suitcase while on a trip. When she shipped her clothing directly to the hotel she would be staying at via UPS, she expected everything to go smoothly. However, mistakes were made and a big misunderstanding cost her a lot of time (and sanity) on her trip.
Megs DeAngelis (@megsdeangelis on TikTok) shared a video with the caption “When you think you’re being smart by shipping your clothes to a hotel so you don’t have to carry a giant suitcase.” In the video, Megs asks the hotel concierge about the clothing she had shipped to the hotel. The hotel worker tells her they had to return the packages because of a discrepancy. Furthermore, she wasn’t listed as a guest in the room. However, Megs had called to ensure the packages would be delivered two days in advance before she arrived there.
So, what happened after the hotel workers refused the delivery? They told her, “I guess they would have been returned to the center.” Megs was stunned by the response and left shaking over the ordeal. Since then, Megs decided that she was going to call UPS customer service in a follow-up video.
When she speaks with a UPS representative, she learns her clothes will be delivered on July 7. That’s good, right? Unfortunately, it turns out they don’t know the exact location of her packages. Whether Megs got her clothing back is still up in the air.
Many viewers of Megs’ TikTok video were sympathetic toward her situation and said this mishap shouldn’t have happened. One person commented, “I work at a hotel and they are so in the wrong for this. I hope they offered you compensation for the HUGE inconvenience.” Another said, “Yeah, 100% hotel is wrong. They need to offer you some major discounts or refund your stay because now you have to spend money to buy all new clothes.”
Apparently, this policy is generally accepted and widely known at hotels. One person even stated, “One of my biggest pet peeves is if you’ve asked if something is allowed beforehand, double checked, and received a solid confirmation, and then they act like you’re in the wrong.” It just seems like an issue like this could have been easily avoided by just bringing your extra luggage with you, even if it is burdening to have so much extra baggage. Hopefully, Megs finds a better solution!
