For years, New York Mayor Eric Adams has been accused of abusing his power and taking bribes in his administration, being scrutinized in a corruption case that was eventually dismissed. Now Adams is apparently trying to fit into regular society, as if we’re supposed to ignore the fact that he lives in the luxurious Gracie Mansion. Adams took to Instagram to share his morning routine with his followers, but the timestamps called a lot into question.
A trend has been sweeping Instagram as of late involving people posting their “morning routine.” Some Instagrammers call this the “get ready with me” video trend. Mayor Eric Adams shared his own video on his Instagram, @ericadramsfornyc, showing his process of shaving, ironing his shirt, and making a smoothie for breakfast. At least, we assume it’s breakfast because his timestamps show that he was doing all of this before 9 a.m.
However, Adams’ clock tells a different story in the background of the video. Even though his footage claims it’s being filmed at 9 a.m., Adams’ clock reads 11 a.m. Because of the disparity between his clock and the timestamps, Instagram viewers are now hilariously responding to the incident.
One commenter says, “Your clocks all say it’s around 12 p.m. Did you mean to say this is your morning routine Turkish time?” Another reflected on the bigger issue by commenting, “Not our Mayor doing a “Get Ready With Me” while we fighting for our lives in these expensive ass NYC Streets.”
After the call-out, a City Hall spokesperson had to answer to the timestamp discrepancy. They told viewers that the wall clock’s batteries had allegedly “died” before the Mayor filmed his daily routine. The spokesperson then went on to say that Mayor Eric Adams “starts his day very early.” A lot of people are going to find that very hard to believe with proof in hand.
Of course, the comments didn’t stop there and continued over the past few days, as hilarious as ever. One commenter quipped, “My guy just got home from the club an hour ago” while another replied, “Gotta respect it. I’d still be in bed.”
Another commented on his expansive mansion kitchen, asking, “Why is there an Applebees kitchen in your house?” As any political figure trying to fit in with everyday society on social media, comments like these are to be expected, and hopefully, the Mayor can take the heat.
