New York McDonald’s Worker Cares More About Doomscrolling Than Hungry Customers, ‘Who else is going to repost Minions memes about it being Monday?’

Is she a zombie?

If you had a nickel for every time a boomer said younger generations don’t work, you’d be rich. And worse, they’d rather talk negatively about teens and their technology, but do little to talk about fixing those issues, such as unfair wages and forced overtime. One McDonald’s worker in New York showed it isn’t just the youngins out there texting and on social media instead of doing their jobs. As one customer reveals, boomers get ensnared in social media, too.

TikToker Nailsbyamaya—Amaya—shared a frustrating (but funny) video of her going through a drive-thru at McDonald’s. Normally, the ones who take your order are pretty quick to exchange change, then send you on your way. However, when she placed the order and pulled up, no one greeted her. The older McDonald’s employee was staring dead-eyed at their phone, scrolling Facebook.

Amaya stated that she started waving and saying, “Helloooo” as loudly as possible but received no response. You can see her reacting to a post on Facebook, so apparently she had enough attention span to do that. This goes on for some time. Amaya says that, to get her attention, she blew her horn and the woman “about jumped out her wheelchair.”

Now, it’s not clear if she knew Amaya was sitting there or not. But if you just took their order, wouldn’t you anticipate the customer pulling up to the next window soon after? Were those comments going anywhere?

One commenter hilariously quipped, “She’s got a job to do, who else is going to repost Minions memes about it being Monday?” And it’ll be shared every few weeks, too.

“Young people and their phones amiright?” another joked, pointing out the hypocrisy of older generations.

“Yall this is my coworker if my boss see this it’s raps for our phones,” claimed another. It’s like kids getting caught in class with their phones. But the real problem isn’t teenagers on phones—it’s doomscrolling. It’s even worse if you’re soaking up negative content, but in general, doomscrolling isn’t good for you. I know McDonald’s is not exciting to work at, and sneaking a peak is harmless in between customers, but please pay attention. People are hungry and have lives of their own to return to!
