We’ve all been witnesses to many of the things ICE has been doing around the country lately, and while some stand around with their arms crossed, a few citizens prefer a more hands-on approach to these situations. Recently, a group of protesters in Rochester, New York, punctured the tires of an ICE vehicle while the agents were harassing a group of workers who were doing repairs on a roof. Fortunately for the citizens, no one saw who the culprits were, so, in the end, ICE had to leave the scene with a damaged vehicle and a hurt ego.
Initially reported by ABC, the footage found its way to Reddit, and we can observe how a group of protesters arrived at a neighborhood in Rochester, New York, where they spotted ICE and border patrol agents. According to some eyewitnesses, the officers were targeting a group of workers who were doing repairs on a roof. However, the protesters quickly arrived at the scene, looking to protect the poor workers.
During the protest, someone took the time to puncture all four tires of the border patrol vehicle, which some ICE agents were using at the time. Furthermore, since the crowd grew larger, the officers decided to leave the scene, but not without towing the vehicle out of there, which, at this point, was impossible to drive.
As you can see in the footage, a lot of citizens are tired of ICE and other border patrol officers harassing people around the country. One of the interviewed protesters said the following:
“They are here, putting on a roof, trying to make a dollar, and paying taxes on that dollar. ICE was here bothering them, so I came to bother ICE.”
Other Redditors shared this citizen’s sentiment, claiming that it is time for US citizens to stand up and resist against these agents.
“Yes, finally resisting. Wake up, America, if we donโt fight for it, we donโt deserve it.” Said one user.
“You can see the exact moment the border patrol goons lost their confidence when they realized they couldn’t leave and were being severely outnumbered.” Commented another user.
Undoubtedly, things have been hectic around the country, mainly due to ICE and now some troop deployments. However, it is always great to see citizens standing up for what’s right and preventing these officers from making wrongful arrests, which, sadly, are pretty common nowadays.
