A woman received a noise complaint from her downstairs neighbor at her apartment complex in New York. What was initially a simple — albeit tiresome neighbor drama — later took a turn for the worse, as the woman then revealed that she was thousands of miles away at the time, in Cancun, Mexico.
TikTok user experedglutenfreebread shared what had occurred regarding her downstairs neighbor. She revealed the contents of an email she got from the building manager, saying that they received a complaint from her apartment at 3:45 a.m.
“We kindly request that you take immediate steps to address this issue by keeping noise levels at a reasonable volume, especially during late hours,” the email read.
The neighbor, described as a ponytail-wearing man, has continuously complained about noise coming from the woman’s apartment. The strained nature of their relationship was made obvious by the New York woman. She appeared annoyed by yet another attempt to get on her nerves.
However, the absurdity of the complaint reached unprecedented new heights. The woman revealed that she was not in her apartment at all when the supposed noise took place. She was vacationing in Cancun, Mexico, thousands of miles away from the Big Apple.
“I’m busy and I’m not there,” the woman said, adding that not even her cat is at her apartment. “So, unless someone has broken in or I have a ghost, this man is making [expletive] up, and I hate him anyway.”
Noise Complaint Reactions
It appears that the “hate” the woman professed for her annoying New York neighbor was shared by hundreds of users online.
“I hope you send this video to your apartment management,” one user wrote. Another one commented. “Really like to hear what they had to say when they found out that you weren’t there.” A third one added, “As a property manager, this is why I always call my residents. We never accuse, we investigate.”
Meanwhile, others were worried that her apartment had been robbed by early morning thieves. One person said, “I would be terrified that my apartment was being noisily robbed, ngl.” A second one added, “You’re more chill than me because my immediate thought would be that someone broke into my apartment.”
While many were worried, the woman clarified that there was no break-in. She, however, confirmed that she was moving out in a month. That way, she won’t have to see her neighbor’s ponytail ever again.
