One Direction band member Niall Horan has officially commented on the death of his friend, Liam Payne. In an Instagram post, Niall shared a photo of the two singers laughing and smiling from their younger years. The lengthy caption is an emotional message detailing their years-long friendship.
“I’m absolutely devastated about the passing of my amazing friend, Liam,” he said. “It just doesn’t feel real.” He continued, saying Liam “had an energy for life and a passion for work.” Horan went on, commending Liam for being the “brightest in every room,” always making “everyone feel happy and secure.”
Liam’s death came two weeks after he attended one of Niall’s concerts, and in his post, Horan noted how “fortunate” he was to “see him recently.”
“I sadly didn’t know that after saying goodbye and hugging him that evening, I would be saying goodbye forever.” He added: “It’s heartbreaking.”

Later, Harry added, “The years we spent together will forever remain among the most cherished years of my life. I will miss him always, my lovely friend. My heart breaks for Karen, Geoff, Nicola, and Ruth, his son Bear, and all those around the world who knew him and loved him as I did.”
News of Liam’s passing came on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. According to a report, the former boy band singer fell from a third-floor balcony in Argentina. Although the details are still unknown, local authorities are describing the incident as a “doubtful” or “suspicious death.” Additionally, they noted he was likely “going through some kind of outbreak due to substance abuse.”
