Nicki Minaj poured gasoline on an already raging fire after blasting journalist Don Lemon online, joining a wave of outrage tied to a chaotic Minnesota church disruption. Her explosive posts sparked viral outrage, political reactions, and a sharp rebuttal from Lemon, as questions swirled about protest, press conduct, and respect for worship spaces nationwide.
Nicki Minaj Targets Don Lemon After Church Livestream
The controversy stems from a chaotic Sunday service at Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota, where demonstrators stormed in to protest Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity in the state.
Don Lemon livestreamed from the scene as protesters demanded justice for Renee Good, who was shot and killed by ICE agent Jonathan Ross earlier this month. Reports later surfaced alleging the church’s pastor has ties to ICE.
Unhappy that Lemon was involved in disrupting the service without respect for the church/Christianity, Nicki Minaj reacted with fury on X, writing:
“DON ‘[Expletive] SUCKIN’ LEMON IS DISGUSTING.” She followed up with an even harsher rebuke: “HOW DARE YOU? I WANT THAT THUG IN JAIL!!!!! HE WOULD NEVER DO THAT TO ANY OTHER RELIGION. LOCK HIM UP!!!!!”
Her remarks quickly spread across social media, where many echoed her anger. One commenter wrote, “The disrespect he showed for people worshiping in peace is disgusting.” Another added, “there is no first amendment right to interrupt and protest a worship service.” Others accused Lemon of intentionally crossing a line, with one post stating, “Don Lemon is a piece of 💩. He knew exactly what he was doing storming the church like that with the radicals.”
Political Reaction and Lemon’s Sharp Response
As outrage intensified, Don Lemon fired back via TMZ, dismissing Minaj’s criticism by saying,
“I’m not surprised Nicki Minaj does not understand journalism and is weighing in on matters that are above her capacity. However, the more appropriate image for her post is a ‘Pick Me’ Doll.”
The fallout soon reached Washington. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt condemned the incident, stating President Trump “will not tolerate the intimidation and harassment of Christians in their sacred places of worship,” and confirmed the Department of Justice has opened a full investigation into what she called a “despicable incident.”
Following Leavitt’s statement and Lemon’s sharp response, Nicki Minaj doubled down with a picture captured during the church incident. The image, captioned “The world is watching,” showed a kid crying due to the chaotic scene. The comment section again called out Lemon while thanking Nicki for speaking up about the issue.
Online, the debate continued to rage. One user argued, “He would never do that to ANY other religions!” while another warned, “Terrorizing Christians in sanctity of The Lord’s House has crossed the line.”
As emotions remain high, the clash between protest, press freedom, and faith shows no sign of cooling down.
