Introducing celebrities, movie characters, and even memes to online games has been the trend in recent years. Especially the battle-royale games always add characters we know from real life. Fortnite is an excellent example, as the game’s metaverse-esque world is harmonious for surreal characters or loved celebrities. Call of Duty was primarily focused on characters related to the CoD universe, but this will be a first. Nicki Minaj is coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 5. Nicki Minaj’s style is undoubtedly hard to match with CoD, but that addition could be an evolution for the franchise’s online content.
Nicki Minaj Is Arriving in Season 5 of Warzone 2 and MW2
Nicki Minaj’s representing character’s arrival was heralded by a leaker two weeks ago, and now it’s official. She will be appearing as The Harajuku Barbie in Season 5. The operator doesn’t directly represent herself; the character references her alter ego we saw in the Red Ruby Da Sleeze music video. As revealed before, the game is getting a bundle called “50 Years of Hip Hop Celebration“, and there are hip-hop stars such as Snoop Dog and 21 Savage. That must be fun for the hip-hop lover CoD players, and we hope that Activision works on including more hip-hop stars in that collection.
One of the funny details we see about The Harajuku Barbie’s arrival is her pink rifle in Warzone 2 and MW2. Though the world is already surrounded by Barbie references lately, it’s not surprising to see Barbie references on one of the most played games in the world. It’s worth noting that The Harajuku Barbie is the first “self-named female operator” for the franchise. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is dropping Season 5 on August 2, so that’s when you’ll meet Nicki Minaj in the game. There will be a big content update, so stay tuned for the patch notes we will share.
