Nicolas Cage Reveals He Got Slapped After Moonstruck
Nicolas Cage was in an interview with ET’s Rachel Smith on Monday at the New York City premiere of his movie. During the discussion about the horror-comedy film Renfield, Nicolas reminisced about his career.
He recalled the unusual scenario that occurred because of the admiration people had for his 1987 movie Moonstruck. The movie also starred the renowned Cher.
“For the longest time, back from Moonstruck, I would walk to the airport and people just had a habit of saying, ‘Snap out of it!’ from Moonstruck — the Cher’ snap out of it’ [line] — and I did get slapped a few times,” Nicolas Cage said.
Nicolas stated that such an experience came with his job when his Renfield co-star, Nicholas Hoult, starred in disbelief.
“Oh yeah, I did. And that, you know, it’s part of the job.”
The Moonstruck Movie
Nicolas Cage also spoke about what possibly led his fans to react as they did.
“I think maybe [they think] I’ll cast them in something,” he said.
Nicolas Cage’s Moonstruck centers on widowed Italian-American Loretta Castorini (Cher), who develops feelings for her fiance’s irate younger brother (Nicolas). The movie was directed and co-produced by Norman Jewison and written by John Patrick Shanley.
In the meantime, Nicolas is adding to his lengthy filmography with Chris McKay’s Renfield. In the movie, he portrays Count Dracula and Renfield’s (Nicholas Hoult) egotistical boss.
