Night Thrasher makes his reluctant return to the Marvel Universe in this week’s new comics. The rather obscure character is the alter ego of Dwayne Taylor. He is a founding member of the New Warriors team. Now, he is making a comeback with his own solo series, whether he wants to or not. The new series, debuting this week, comes from writer Jason Holtham, artist Nelson Daniel, colorist Matt Milla, and letterer Travis Lanham. Night Thrasher makes his debut alongside an exciting week of comics that continue the Gang War event and follow the X-Men’s war with Orchis.
Night Thrasher
The character Night Thrasher was first introduced in 1989’s Thor #411 from the minds of Tom DeFalco and Ron Frenz. The character is a vigilante with no superpowers. However, he uses high-tech equipment, a la Batman, to fight villains. Eventually, he formed the New Warriors, a team of young heroes like the Avengers or X-Men. While the group was popular in the 90s, not much has been heard from them since…until now.
Night Thrasher #1 brings Dwayne Taylor back. This time, a story called “Don’t Call it a Comeback” finds Taylor returning for his own funeral. This comes after he has stopped being Night Thrasher. However, his old teammate, Silhouette, reaches out for help, and Taylor cannot refuse. So, he dons the moniker of Night Thrasher once again to take on a new villain. This new villain, known as The O.G., will change the legacy of Night Thrasher forever.
