Rooney Mara talked briefly about working on the 2010 slasher film franchise remake Nightmare on Elm Street. She said on the podcast LaunchLeft (from IndieWire), that she had “not a good experience” with the film. Mara did not go into details on what happened on the set of Nightmare on Elm Street. The actor was choosing her words carefully so she didn’t burn any bridges in the industry. She did however say that David Fincher restored her faith in acting after the unfortunate 2010 slasher film franchise remake. Rooney Mara worked with Fincher for the film The Social Network. This was long before her Oscar-nominated performance in the American remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Fincher was her biggest advocate which helped her get into the film The Social Network. He even became a mentor for her during its production. His mentorship has positively benefited her career.
