The pictures captured the moment White got down on one knee, popping the big question in a breathtaking setting. He proposed to Dobrev under an arch of white flowers with candles and petals covering the floor.
The former professional skateboarder donned an all-black tuxedo for the occasion, with Dobrev matching the theme. She rocked a shimmery mini-black dress with sheer polka-dot tights, a floor-length coat, and matching black shoes. The images captured Dobrev’s heartwarming reaction to the proposal and the couple’s celebratory kiss and hug.
There was also a close-up shot of the stunning engagement ring, which appeared to be a square-cut diamond. “RIP Boyfriend, hello fiancé,” Dobrev proudly declared in her October 30 post while White’s caption read, “She said yes.” Both posts received hundreds of congratulatory comments from fans and celebrities.

Dobrev and White first met briefly at an awards show in 2012. However, they were formally introduced at a Florida workshop in late 2019 and grabbed dinner afterward. Their bond deepened by February 2020 while Dobrev was filming Redeeming Love and invited White to the location.“That was actually how we kind of started our relationship,” the former athlete recalled in an interview.
The dating rumors started a month later when Dobrev and White were photographed riding their bicycles together in Malibu. They finally confirmed their romance in April 2020 by going Instagram official, clueing fans in on their relationship. Additionally, the couple supported their careers with the actress cheerleading the athlete through his final Olympic run. “Nina’s just been so supportive and so amazing through this whole process for me,” White told PEOPLE in 2022. “Through the pandemic, she was a lifesaver — she really made that time in my life special.”
