With the end of 2024 approaching, Nintendo has released the ranking for the top 30 games that Japanese fans purchased the most on the Switch eShop. This ranking is based on the number of sales occurring from January 1st to December 20th, 2024. Surprisingly, the number one most popular title is the Suika Game. It’s an indie title where you can combine fruits into bigger fruits. The goal is to simply get the highest score before the box becomes full. This indie game also took the first spot in the 2023 ranking.

Another indie game, The Exit 8, took second place on the Switch eShop ranking. Previously, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom held the spot in 2023 after the game became a global success due to its innovative gameplay mechanic. This is a simple horror game where you must traverse a looping Japanese metro station passageway. Your goal is to spot inaccuracies and other strange sights to reach the exit and escape the station. Although the game was released in 2023, it seems Nintendo fans still haven’t had enough of it yet.

The third spot on the Switch eShop ranking is claimed by Overcooked! 2. This is another old game, and it was released back in 2018. On the fourth spot, we finally see a new release. Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is a reimagining of the third game in the Dragon Quest series and the start of The Erdrick Trilogy. The game has been received well globally, but it’s especially popular in Japan, selling over 800,000 physical copies.

As for the fifth place, Monster Hunter Rise has claimed that spot on the Switch eShop ranking. The game was launched in 2021. Although Monster Hunter Wilds is about to be released in February 2025, Japanese Nintendo fans still want to get their hands on this game. Here is the full ranking:
