No Man’s Sky, the highly anticipated space exploration game, releases in just over a week. In anticipation for the looming release date, a new trailer has been released. This trailer is titled “Survive,” which is the final core tenet to the gameplay of No Man’s Sky. The trailer highlights the dangers that await in the procedurally generated universe, specifically from the hostile environments that the player will encounter. Check out the trailer below:

In addition to showcasing all the ways No Man’s Sky will try to kill you, the trailer also continues to demonstrate how unique and interesting the different environments can be. Some of the dangers, such as dangerous lifeforms and sentry robots, have already been featured in these teaser trailers. However, some planets will have it out for you as well. The trailer shows extreme temperatures, both cold and hot, causing suit malfunctions and hurting the player. There is also acidic rain, toxic gas, and radiation to contend with. Apparently exploring in No Man’s Sky will not just consist of coming up with inappropriate names for every undiscovered species you encounter.
No Man’s Sky has some lofty goals and expectations. Players have been promised over 18 quintillion planets to explore, all of them procedurally generated. Although the game is one shared multiplayer universe, developers have stated that it is highly improbable that any human player will ever encounter another. Each planet is likely too large, not to mention the massive universe containing them all.
As well as surviving, exploring, fighting, and trading are the main activities available in No Man’s Sky. The overarching question during all of those things, however, is this: Can you survive while doing it? It will not be long, barring any further delays, until players will be able to find out. No Man’s Sky releases on August 9th for PS4 and PC.
