Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff accused President Donald Trump’s White House of “lying the country into war” during a televised interview. He targeted Trump aides Natalie Harp, Peter Navarro and Pete Hegseth while defending his criticism of the administration. Ossoff also dismissed concerns about the aides’ feelings, citing their powerful positions in public service. The exchange followed what he described as a weeklong White House “meltdown” over his earlier Harp remarks.
A video of the exchange circulated on X. The interviewer asked why Ossoff’s remarks about Harp appeared to bother Trump and White House officials.
Ossoff described White House staffers as adults holding taxpayer-funded positions of public trust. He singled out Harp, Navarro and Hegseth while criticizing Trump’s advisers. He accused Harp of printing Trump’s “daily dose of delusion and flattery.” He accused Navarro of steering taxpayer-funded loans toward Trump family investments. Ossoff also accused Hegseth of pushing Trump deeper into the Middle East conflict.
“No one cares about their feelings,” Ossoff said. He contrasted those officials with sailors aboard the Lincoln, whom he described as “fighting his war.” He called it “a war based on lies.”
Ossoff also criticized Trump over his ballroom and a jet he said came from a foreign prince. He described Trump’s advisers as “sycophantic aides” who tell him what he wants to hear.
“This entire White House is responsible for lying the country into war,” Ossoff said. He said those involved would be remembered for participating in what he called an “obscenity.”
Jon Ossoff Draws Praise and Backlash Over Trump White House Attack
Ossoff’s remarks quickly drew sharply divided reactions, with supporters praising his approach and critics dismissing his accusations.
One user wrote, “A hit dog will holler! I hope Ossoff keeps swinging. He has my vote for President if he will run!”
Another response stated, “My man Ossoff knows where all the buttons are and absolutely no fear in pushing them, more power to Jon Ossoff.”
A separate user added, “This is the kind of energy and talk we need to win!! I hope we see more of Jon.” The same response continued, “He absolutely knows how to do this and how to push the republican buttons!!” Another wrote, “No lies told by @ossoff ..u got those idiots drawers in a bunch.”
Others rejected Ossoff’s remarks. One response stated, “I love this, more insane liberals pushing more propaganda.” Another user simply wrote, “Jon is a liar.”
Ossoff’s accusations have become part of the wider political debate over the Trump administration’s approach to the conflict in the Middle East, with supporters and critics continuing to clash over both the decision to enter the conflict and the role senior White House aides played in shaping the administration’s message.
